  KEY TRAINING AREAS
 

 

Training Objectives:

Graduating skillful qualified technicians who can carry out all the tasks necessary to fulfill the drilling operation which include assembling, disassembling, maintenance, work preparations, and testing. While these functions are all dealt with throughout the training program, special emphasis is given to the following areas:

  • Dealing with and using different types and sizes of drill pipes, bits and threads.
  • Preparing the drilling fluid and measuring its physical properties.
  • Writing daily follow-up reports of the drilling task in hand.
  • Performing maintenance works such as replacement of the drilling rig equipment.
  • Performing drilling operations using the drilling rig under the supervision of the driller.

Training Vehicles


To facilitate the achievement of the training objectives, the department is equipped with :
  • Equipment Workshop
  • Drilling Fluid Laboratory
  • Drilling Rig
  • Drilling Simulator

Equipment Workshop Used to familiarize the students with different drilling and workover equipment and their uses.

Drilling fluid laboratory Prepare and mix the drilling fluid Conduct Lab Experiments to measure physical properties of the drilling fluid such as density and viscosity.

Drilling Rig Students receive practical training on different devices used in drilling operations.

Drilling Simulator DS 5000 Students receive practical training on different devices used in drilling operations.
